In this issue’s New and Noteworthy section, we highlight the new structured abstracts search feature in PubMed, as well as the PubMed for Handhelds new app.
In the Spotlight
The library now allows new patrons to register through the library’s website. A member of the pediatric faculty supplies a new, valuable resource to the library’s collection. Also, a resource in the library’s consumer health web portal, healthelinks, has received accreditation from URAC.

For September, the library has scheduled a few new classes, including a class on tablets and e-readers for librarians.
Liaison and Outreach Updates:
On October 27th, the library will be one stop on the School of Allied Health Professions Family Day tour. Read here for more information.
Several new displays in the library foyer celebrate the lives of Drs. Joe and Alice Baker Holoubek, who practiced medicine in Shreveport for more than 40 years. The library also caries a copy of the book, which you can check out the list of recent additions to the library’s collection.
